Los Mercaderes

Los Mercaderes is a paladar, located in the historic center of Old Havana. The restaurant takes its name from the street that had been lined with numerous shops selling various fabrics and other goods during the colonial period.

The paladar part of the building is located on the upper floor of a 19th-century building that has preserved much of its original architecture. Those visiting the restaurant are greeted at the door and their arrival is announced by ringing a bell. Accessing the upper floor by a wide marble staircase you will see on the original paintings on the walls that had decorated the rooms before the delicate restoration.

On the restaurant floor, those sitting at tables on small balconies can watch the people pass by through the car-free, cobbled Mercaderes Street. The restaurant also has a safety-air-conditioned lounge which offers a more private setting. The building's interior patio and balcony serve as a small smoking area.

The atmosphere of a typical colonial house prevails inside the restaurant (the original mosaics and stained glass windows that decorate the upper part of all the doors and windows, mural paintings and original XIX century floors). Live music makes this place perfect.

The restaurant's cuisine features a wide variety of Cuban and international dishes with the blend of a modern concept. The variety of new flavors and their combinations is amazing. The portions are huge. A special emphasis is made on fresh seafood, but everything on the menu is recommended.

Restaurant staff are polite and helpful.
