The Café El Escorial is a place where
the Cubans like to spend the afternoon by watching the busies
square of the city from the terrace of the restored colonial
mansion. Its covered terrace is an oasis for the tourists that
escape from the burning sun. The theme of the place is coffee;
they serve as well as over 20 varieties of coffee. They also
serve coffee cocktails, made of coffee with all kind of Cuban
rums and other liquors, such as coffee frappé, coffee liquor and
even daiquirí de café. It is strictly recommended to
taste Fariseo (coffee with rum) there that may cause addiction.
Do not forget also to taste any of the chocolate cakes and the
coffee ice cream. All the coffee beans are from the Escambray
mountains. Freshly roasted coffee beans are also available for
purchase.
