Also known as the Patio Areito or the
Patio EGREM, this small but authentic music venue belongs to the
national record company EGREM. Areito is the imprint of EGREM
that was used for the recorded music in Havana studios until
1996. The adjoining building is dedicated to the studios of
EGREM that also manages music venues under the name of Casa de
La Musica.
A patio bar leads into a rather plain
performance room where you could listen to the traditional Cuban
music, jazz, bolero, trova and son, accompanied by some
spontaneous dancing., and watch and street rumba shows. Music
type changed every evening according to the band playing, but
Friday and Saturday nights were more dynamic. Here, you could also
buy the CD’s and posters of the Cuban musicians.
Entrance was for 5CUC.
