The old colonial mansion Casa del Marqués de Aguas Claras
whose construction lasted more than twenty years (1751-1775),
serves as a restaurant today, called El Patio. The left side of the
archade on the wide and spacious portal is used as café, where
as the right side as restaurant. The guests can listen to the
Cuban music, played by the orchestre in front of the restaurant
while watching the Plaza de la Catedral through the thick
columns of the archade and suping their cocktails. You may
prefer to sit in the rectangular Andalusian inner courtyard,
surrounded by galleries. It has a beautiful and refreshing
fountain in the center of dense tropical vegetation and
palm trees where you will find several tortoises quite well used
to the tourists.
On the upper floor that is
opened according the occupancy of the place, the wrought-iron
balconies with original 18th-century stained glass windows
embellish the baroque façade of the dwelling, as well as offers a
magnificent view of the square, particularly
at night. The place is preferred mostly
by the tourists to watch the popular square and to taste the
Cuban cocktails in the accompany of live music, but you can also
taste the dishes of Creole kitchen.
