La Fontana, opened in 1995, was one of the most exquisite restaurants in the city that has an intimate and romantic atmosphere. The restaurant had separate areas with different ambience: the lounge bar, the outdoor terrace and the air-conditioned salon. The outdoor terrace had abundant greenery and a series of fountains and rectangular ponds with fishes.
The rooms La Estancia, designed in eclectic style, and La Floresta with his tropical flora offered menus with a wide range of high-quality options from the authentic contemporary Cuban cuisine. The Miami style, contemporary modern bar-lounge El Edén offered cocktails and tapas of the highest standard. Even though the restaurant was closed at midnight, the bar-lounge was open until 03:00. They had regularly live music; sometimes jazz, sometimes warm Cuban songs.
Fontana was famed for its barbecue and charcoal grill. Grilled lobster, pork chops, ribs or fish were recommended, as well as the chicken teriyaki and the chateaubriand. Portions were huge. As starter, you could choose lobster ceviche, tuna tartar or beef carpaccio with rocket. They had also a wide wine selection, including the best Chili wines. The service was reverent and quick.
The place was frequented both by locals and foreigners, although it was complicated to find the restaurant in the darkness of the night.
