The building of the Iris Jazz Club consists of a café, a mini-bar, and the club. At the entrance the metal sculpture of the plastic artist Alberto Lescay Merencio depicting a jazz musician, greets the guests.
The venue has two floors. The bar is outside the seating area. 50-60 people can fit comfortably in the hall where the tables are placed. There are also lodges around the hall. The stage decoration is quite interesting. The walls of the hall are decorated with photographs of jazz masters.
Unlike authentic Cuban music, blues, ragtime, jazz-fusion, acid jazz and Latin jazz are played here. Masters such as Chucho Valdés, César López, Bobby Gonzalito, Bobby Carcasés and Gonzala Rubalcaba have performed in this venue, which is nothing short of amazing than the Jazz clubs in New York.
Iris Jazz Club, the only jazz club in Santiago de Cuba, is a place where you can listen to quality jazz music in a clean environment, without anyone disturbing you,
and with good service.
