Casa de la Música
The live music coming from a stage set up in front of a house adjacent to the Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad and appeals to everyone, whether local or tourist, as well as the cheap admission and the fact that everyone can have fun in this place, are the main reasons why the Casa de la Música is one of the most visited places in Trinidad. There is also an extra reason: it is one of the few places in the area with Wi-Fi.

The Recording and Publishing Company (EGREM), the country's largest record company, created this live music center in a large colonial mansion that was built on the Cristo Street in 1700s. The building was completely renovated in 1996 to give service as La Casa de la Música. Since then, the public has a place where the best of popular traditional Cuban music was performed, surrounded by the historic buildings of the town.

The majority of the place, which can be reached from both Amargura and Cristo Streets, consists of a wide and long staircase overlooking the Plaza Mayor, also providing a unique view of the Trinidadian coast, from the Ancón peninsula and María Aguilar beach to the mouth of the Guaurabo River. It’s an outdoor venue so people will be scattered throughout the area, sitting in the courtyard either at the tables in front of the cozy bar but the young people prefer mostly the steps of the staircase. When you arrive, there will be waiters around if you want to order any drinks or, of course, you can head over to the bar to order yourself. It is a charming place to contemplate the historical architecture while drinking a refreshing Mojito.

In the majority Trinidadian music groups, such as including the sextet La Parranda de Perico Téllez, take the stage, performing the best examples of traditional music from the region. Also guitar trios play boleros and romantic ballads. Live music is typically playing from 20:00 until 23:00. Afterwards, the area begins to transform into a nightclub. The music is always changing up. Even if you’re not a dancer, there may be someone in the crowd willing to teach you how to move, or feel free to stay off the uneven dance floor and just watch. It’s also a great place for people watching.
